ginger supplementation in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled pilot study

چکیده
conclusions twelve weeks of two grams of ginger supplementation showed beneficial effects on some nafld characteristics. further studies are recommended to assess the long-term supplementation effects. results ginger supplementation resulted in a significant reduction in alanine aminotransferase, γ-glutamyl transferase, inflammatory cytokines, as well as the insulin resistance index and hepatic steatosis grade in comparison to the placebo. we did not find any significant effect of taking ginger supplements on hepatic fibrosis and aspartate aminotransferase. background nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (nafld) is one of the most common chronic liver diseases worldwide. the pathogenesis of this disease is closely associated with obesity and insulin resistance. ginger can have hypolipidemic and antioxidant effects, and act as an insulinsensitizer. objectives the aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of ginger supplementation in nafld management. patients and methods in a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, 44 patients with nafld were assigned to take either two grams per day of a ginger supplement or the identical placebo, for 12 weeks. in both groups, patients were advised to follow a modified diet and physical activity program. the metabolic parameters and indicators of liver damage were measured at study baseline and after the 12 week intervention.

BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common chronic liver disease in the world. Oral administration of synbiotic has been proposed as an effective treatment of NAFLD because of its modulating effect on the gut flora, which can influence the gut-liver axis. OBJECTIVE The objective was to evaluate the effects of supplementation with synbiotic on hepatic fibrosis, live...

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common liver disease that can progress to cirrhosis and liver failure. Anthocyanin, a member of the flavonoid family, has been shown to ameliorate NAFLD-associated pathologies in rodents. The aim of this CONSORT-compliant pilot study is to evaluate the effects of anthocyanin supplementation on insulin resistance and liver injury biomarkers in patient...

conclusions turmeric consumption had beneficial effects on serum hcy levels and may be useful in management of this risk factor in nafld patients. background elevated levels of homocysteine (hcy) and fetuin-a are important risk factors for cardiovascular diseases in patients with a nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (nafld). there is limited evidence regarding the effects of turmeric on nafld. ob...

BACKGROUND There is increasing evidence that fatty acid deficiencies or imbalances may contribute to childhood neurodevelopmental disorders. METHODS We conducted a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled 6-week pilot trial investigating the effects of 1.5 g/d of omega-3 fatty acids (.84 g/d eicosapentaenoic acid, .7 g/d docosahexaenoic acid) supplementation in 13 children (aged 5 to 17 y...
